What are Spiritual Practices?
“Follow me…” (Jesus of Nazareth)
Jesus’s invitation to follow him is echoed in our mission: to help each other increasingly do the next moment with Jesus by intentionally Being With him, resulting in increasingly Thinking Like him and increasingly being Mistaken for him. In the coming months, we’ll be holding a series of sessions focused on Spiritual Practices that help us live each moment with Jesus. Together, we’ll explore Jesus’ invitation to follow him and learn to walk his speed—the speed of love, unhurried. We’ll also uncover or rediscover the habits, practices, and relational rhythms that create space for God to do his transformative work in our lives.
Let’s make 2025 the year we intentionally grow in knowing and living with Jesus, for him, and like him.
Sessions are designed for participants aged 11th grade and older.

Spiritual Practices in This Series
-
Solitude: Creating Space to Be With God
Solitude is a sacred space where we can retreat from the noise of daily life and cultivate a deeper connection with God. In the quiet, free from distractions, we open our hearts to listen and reflect. This intentional time alone allows us to center our thoughts, seek clarity, and experience the peace that comes from being fully present with God. In solitude, we are reminded of His presence, His guidance, and His love, enabling us to grow spiritually and find strength for life's challenges.

Prayer: Conversing with God
Prayer is a heartfelt conversation with God, a moment to share our joys, fears, hopes, and struggles. It is a space where we not only speak but also listen, inviting His wisdom and presence into our lives. Through prayer, we deepen our relationship with God, aligning our hearts with His will and finding comfort in His constant love. Whether in moments of gratitude or in times of need, prayer opens the door for us to experience God's guidance, peace, and closeness in a personal and transformative way.

Scripture: Delighting in God’s Word
The Bible is a treasure trove of wisdom, truth, and divine guidance, offering us a glimpse into God's heart and His plan for our lives. Delighting in God's word means more than just reading it; it is savoring each verse, allowing it to transform our minds and hearts. As we meditate on Scripture, we find comfort, encouragement, and direction, drawing closer to the One who spoke it. God's word nourishes our souls, renews our spirits, and leads us to a life of greater joy and purpose, inviting us to live in harmony with His will.

Community: A Relational Way of doing Life Together
Community is the relational fabric that binds us together, creating a space for shared experiences, support, and growth. It’s about doing life together—celebrating joys, shouldering burdens, and offering encouragement along the way. In community, we find strength in our connections, learning from one another, and growing in love and understanding. It’s a place where we can be vulnerable, authentic, and supported, and where relationships deepen as we walk side by side in faith and life. Through community, we experience the richness of connection, and the power of being there for each other.

Conversation: Intentional Conversations with Others
Whether it was hearing a Pharisee’s doubts in the middle of the night, listening to a woman’s excitement about the Messiah at a well, or sharing scriptures with loved ones on a journey, Jesus engaged with intent, staying present and focused on those he was with in spiritual conversations. A spiritual conversation is about connecting with others to encourage, being present in the moment, and focusing on their struggles and joys. This session will cover techniques and tools for being an engaged listener and encourager, whether over coffee or through a text, guiding others to embrace Jesus as a way of life.

Generosity: Love, the Process of Meeting Needs
Generosity is the outward expression of love, meeting the needs of others with a selfless heart. It goes beyond giving material things—it’s about offering time, care, and attention to those around us. Love compels us to be present, to serve, and to share our resources in ways that uplift and support others. Through generosity, we reflect the love of God, whose generous nature meets our deepest needs. As we love others, we step into the transformative process of being a conduit for grace, compassion, and provision, enriching both the giver and the receiver.
